St Canice Primary School Annual Football Tournament

15th Jun 2017

We held our annual football tournament on the 13th June with a total of 25 teams competing, representing 12 schools. After a great day of football the Boys’ A final was won by Faughanvale who beat their neighbours Broadbridge in an exciting final. The Boys’ B final saw Dernaflaw pip their parish neighbours Gortnaghy by a point in the final. In a keenly contested Girls’ final Claudy beat Dernaflaw.

We were delighted to welcome the Ulster Gaa President Mr Michael Hasson, who was there not only to watch the football, but to run his eye over the managerial skills of the St. Canice manager, Mr Conor Hasson, who also happens to be Michael’s son.

St. Canice Primary would like to thank Mr Michael Hasson and all of the teams for coming. We would also like to thank Derry Gaa and Mr Colm O’Kane for the use of the facilities at Owenbeg. We also would like to give a huge thank you to Ashling McCaul for organising the event and to all of the referees on the day. Thank you to our Parents’ Association for providing the food on the day for all of the adults.

Finally we would like to extend our thanks to St. Canice GAC Dungiven who kindly sponsored our medals and trophies.
